As Quad’s Vice President Human Resources—Talent, Technology, and HR Shared Services, Artell brings a wealth of HR and leadership experience to leading Quad’s Talent Acquisition, Talent Management, and HR Technology teams. With the Talent Acquisition team, Artell works to enhance our strategy for sourcing and securing top talent. With the Talent Management team, his responsibility is managing the entire talent lifecycle, from onboarding and training and development, to talent assessments, performance management and succession planning. Artell oversees DEI development enterprise-wide and is a core executive member of the DEI Task Force. He serves as the Executive Sponsor for Quad’s Black Excellence business resource group.
Artell has nearly 30 years of experience in human resources management and has worked for four industry leaders during his career: ExxonMobil, Fidelity Investments, Hewitt Associates and, most recently, Aon plc. Prior to his retirement from Aon Corporation in December 2013, Artell was HR Senior Vice President for Strategy, Technology & Operations, reporting to Aon’s Chief HR Officer. He managed a global team of 200 HR colleagues responsible for global generalist services, employee relations, workforce administration, payroll, leaves and absences, global mobility and HR technology. From March 2011 through June 2013, Artell was the CHRO for Aon’s HR Solutions division, a $3.8-billion business with 27,000 employees. He was responsible for advising the Aon Hewitt executive committee on all aspects of HR, with a special emphasis on overall people strategy, talent management & development, and executive compensation.
Artell joined Hewitt Associates in 1997. He held a variety of positions during his 17-year career at Aon/Hewitt, including Vice President HR—Business Process Outsourcing, HR Global Operations Leader, Chief Learning Officer and Corporate Talent Programs Leader. At Fidelity Investments, Artell was Vice President for Learning & Development in support of U.S. retail investor services and brokerage operations. Before that he was Director of Learning & Development at Fidelity’s Cincinnati customer service center. Prior to joining Fidelity, Artell held several HR positions with ExxonMobil HR.
Artell is Adjunct Faculty at the University of Wisconsin—Madison, Wisconsin School of Business, Center for Professional & Executive Development. He teaches in a variety of programs, including manager, leader, and executive development. Artell earned his Master of Public Administration degree from Brigham Young University. He also has a Bachelor of Arts in History and Political Science from BYU.
